South Georgia Technical College Lady Jets sophomore co-captain Enola Papin signed a letter of agreement to play basketball for the Division 1 University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks women鈥檚 basketball team for the 2025 鈥 2026 season. The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is in Princess Anne, Maryland.
Enola Papin is a 5鈥 9鈥 guard from Saint Etienne, France, who helped lead the Lady Jets to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division 1 National Tournament as well as the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) regular season conference title and the NJCAA Region 17 and GCAA Tournament title during the 2024 鈥 2025 season.
鈥淚t has been a great two years here at South Georgia Technical College,鈥 said Papin, right before she inked the agreement. 鈥淚 am so appreciative of Coach Jason Carpenter and Assistant Coach Olivia Melvin, my teammates and everyone here. The community support that we receive is wonderful.鈥
She is also very proud of what she and her team were able to accomplish in the past two years. 鈥淚 feel like I have played the best basketball of my career during my two seasons here,鈥 said Papin. 鈥淭hat is because of my teammates and my coaches. We all put in a lot of hard work and my journey here has just been amazing. I am sad to leave but also very excited about the future and the opportunity to have an impact at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.鈥
The Lady Jets compiled a 25 鈥 7 overall record in 2024 鈥 2025 and put together a 21 鈥 11 season in 2023 鈥 2024 when Papin was a freshman starter. In her career at Yobo体育, Papin helped lead the Lady Jets to a 46 鈥 18 record on the court, a national tournament appearance and a conference title. The Lady Jets lost to the defending NJCAA National Champion Hutchinson Community College 61 鈥 58 in the NJCAA national tournament in Casper, Wyoming.
Papin was selected as a GCAA All-Region First Team player this season and was also one of six Lady Jets to earn the GCAA Player of the Week honors during the regular season. She set a new team record for the most three-pointers in a season with 96. The old record was 84. She was the third leading scorer in the GCAA as a sophomore and the third leading three-point percentage shooter in the conference.
She averaged 12.8 points per game this season for the Lady Jets and hit 37.1% of her field goals, 35.7% of her three-point attempts and was an 81.4% free throw shooter. She also averaged 5.8 rebounds per game. She scored a total of 411 points this season in 32 games and 269 points her freshman season where she started 30 of the Lady Jets 32 games.
Papin picked Maryland Eastern Shore to continue her career because she wanted to go to a Division 1 school where she could play and possibly have an immediate impact.
The Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks women鈥檚 basketball team finished the season with a 14 鈥 17 and 8 鈥 6 conference record under head coach Malikah Willis, who was in her first season with the Hawks. Her team finished the season with a 67 鈥 59 loss to Howard in the semifinals of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Homecoming Basketball Tournament.
Coach Willis was proud of her team which had a six-game winning streak to end the regular season. The focus, the will to want to win, the will to continue to want to get better and continue to grow, it really showed she believed. 鈥淲e came up short, but still anytime you play us it鈥檚 going to be a tough matchup. I have been blessed with this team.鈥
Papin displays that same type of mental and physical attitude on and off the court and she is hoping that her next stop will result in even better basketball from herself and her new teammates.
