South Georgia Tech’s Desiree Corbin signs letter of intent with East Carolina University

South Georgia Technical College sophomore women鈥檚 basketball player Desiree Corbin, a 6鈥3鈥 center from Griffin, signed a letter of intent to continue her basketball career as Lady Pirate at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.
Yobo体育 Lady Jets Head Coach James Frey and Assistant Coach Kezia Conyers were on hand for the signing and offered their support. 鈥淚鈥檓 proud of Des and the way she fought through a late season injury and never quit on her teammates and coaches,鈥 said Frey. 鈥淪he鈥檚 a great ambassador for South Georgia Tech and I鈥檓 excited to see what the future holds for her on and off the court.鈥
鈥淓ast Carolina is getting a humble young lady who cares about her academics as much as she cares about her athletics. She will no doubt succeed in whatever career she chooses,鈥 said Frey of Corbin, who just graduated from Yobo体育 with her Associate of Applied Science degree in Recreation and Leisure Management and will start working toward a Bachelor鈥檚 Degree during the next leg of her collegiate basketball journey at East Carolina.
Corbin and the 2016-2017 Lady Jets traveled to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national tournament in Lubbock, Texas earlier this year, where they made it to the Sweet 16. Corbin was named to the GCAA (Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association) All Conference First Team. The Lady Jets had a 30-5 record for the season.
