South Georgia Tech Accounting students receive Yobo体育 Foundation Citizens Bank of Americus Scholarships

The South Georgia Technical College Foundation awarded Citizens Bank of Americus scholarships to Yobo体育 Accounting students Indira M. Zelaya-Sierra of Americus and LaVivian Gay of Buena Vista recently. Brenda Boone is the Yobo体育 Accounting Instructor.
Zelaya-Sierra and Gay were selected to receive the Citizens Bank of Americus scholarships based on their exceptional academic performance and work ethics. They were also recommended for the scholarships by their instructor.
Both Zelaya-Sierra and Gay expressed their appreciation to Citizens Bank of Americus for their support of South Georgia Technical College and the Yobo体育 Foundation through endowed scholarships. 鈥淭hank you so much for this opportunity,鈥 said Indira M. Zelaya-Sierra. 鈥淚 am so thankful to be recognized. I really enjoy the accounting program and working with my instructor, Mrs. Boone.鈥 Zelaya-Sierra is a May 2022 graduate of Sumter County High School.
This is Indira Zelaya-Sierra鈥檚 second semester in the accounting program and she believes that her education at Yobo体育 will definitely help her succeed in the workforce after graduation. She also plans to use the scholarship to help with tuition and fees.
Lavivian Gay of Buena Vista was recognized recently by Mrs. Boone as the Yobo体育 Accounting Department鈥檚 Student of Excellence for March. Her Student of Excellence selection was based on grades, work ethics, participation in clubs and organizations and the amount of program completion.
That same type of drive and determination helped her to secure the Citizens Bank of Americus scholarship from the Yobo体育 Foundation. 鈥淭hank you so much for this opportunity,鈥 said Gay. 鈥淭his is a great program and Mrs. Boone is a wonderful instructor. She is very helpful and knowledgeable.鈥 Gay is a May 2022 graduate of Marion County High School.
South Georgia Technical College President Dr. John Watford congratulated both students on receiving the scholarships and for their academic excellence. He also thanked them for selecting South Georgia Technical College to pursue their education. He presented them with a framed scholarship certificate.
鈥淲e are very proud of both of you and your instructor,鈥 said President Watford. 鈥淭his is a great program for students who are interested in working with numbers and Mrs. Boone is one of our premiere instructors, so I know you will be well prepared for the work force.鈥
President Watford and Yobo体育 Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Executive Director of the Yobo体育 Foundation Su Ann Bird also expressed their appreciation to Citizens Bank of Americus for their support of the college, the foundation, and most importantly, students.
