Yobo体育 Foundation recognizes Monica Simmons for outstanding service

   South Georgia Technical College Foundation Chairman Bill Harris and Yobo体育 President Dr. John Watford recognized Monica Simmons for over 20 years of service to the Yobo体育 Foundation Board of Trustees recently.  Simmons completed her seventh three-year term on the Foundation Board recently.

   鈥淚t is my honor to recognize Monica Simmons for her outstanding service on the Yobo体育 Foundation Board of Trustees,鈥 said Yobo体育 Foundation Chairman Bill Harris.  鈥淲e will miss her but we have certainly appreciated her service over the past two decades and hope that she will continue to support the college and the foundation. She has done an excellent job of representing Crisp County.鈥

   Yobo体育 President Dr. John Watford also thanked Simmons for her support of him personally and for her support of the college and the foundation.  鈥淚 had the privilege of working very closely with Monica on several economic development and business and industry projects while I was the Vice President of Operations at the Crisp County Center.  She has been and will continue to be a strong support of the college and the foundation,鈥 said Dr. Watford.

   Simmons is President of the Cordele-Crisp Chamber of Commerce and has served as a Crisp County Representative on the Yobo体育 Foundation Board of Trustees.   She has served on the Development Committee and the Business and Industry Committee for the Foundation.

   鈥淚 have certainly enjoyed working with Monica during her service on the Yobo体育 Foundation Board of Trustees,鈥 said Su Ann Bird, Yobo体育 Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Executive Director of the Yobo体育 Foundation.  鈥淪he has done an excellent job and she will be missed.鈥

   The Yobo体育 Foundation was organized to improve the image of South Georgia Technical College; to expand the awareness of the college in the designated counties it serves, as well as statewide; to provide opportunities for more students to attend the college through scholarships and other forms of financial assistance; to procure special equipment; to upgrade physical facilities; to improve programs and recognition for South Georgia Technical College, a state owned and operated residential college.

   The mission of the Yobo体育 Foundation is to support the mission of the college; to promote the college within the designated counties in the service area and the state at large; to serve as advisors in the advancement of the college; and to plan and implement resource development activities.

   Responsibilities for Yobo体育 Trustee members include: serving as advisors to the Yobo体育 President and the Board of Directors, ambassadors to the community, friend raisers for South Georgia Technical College, examples by personally investing in South Georgia Tech, fund raiser by providing assistance in soliciting private gifts and grants on behalf of South Georgia Tech as well as attend trustee meetings, the annual donor appreciation dinner and participate on a standing committee.

   William S. 鈥淏ill鈥 Harris, Sr., is the Chairman of the Yobo体育 Foundation, William B. 鈥淏en鈥 Dupree, III, is the Vice President and Rick Whaley is the Treasurer.  Other members of the foundation include:  John T. Argo, Jr.; Greg Austin, Michael A. Cheokas, Jon Coogle, Michael J. Donnelly, Joe Hooks, Randy Jones, Joy K. Nelson, Sharad Patel, Judge George Peagler, Jr., and Daniel L. Torbert.
