Georgia Power supports South Georgia Tech Foundation
Georgia Power Area Manager Jem Morris presented a donation from the Georgia Power Foundation to the South Georgia Technical College Foundation 2016 TechForce annual fund drive recently. South Georgia Technical College President Dr. John Watford and Yobo体育 Foundation Executive Director Su Ann Bird accepted the donation on behalf of the foundation.
鈥淲e would like to thank Jem Morris and Georgia Power Company for this donation to the South Georgia Technical College Foundation,鈥 said Yobo体育 President Dr. John Watford. 鈥淭his is a valuable partnership. Georgia Power鈥檚 support of the foundation and our college is very important. We appreciate what they have done and continue to do for the college, the faculty, staff, and most importantly, our students.鈥
The mission of the South Georgia Technical College Foundation Board of Trustees is to support the mission of the college; to promote the college within the designated counties in the service area and the state at large; to serve as advisors in the advancement of the college; and to plan and implement resource development activities.
The Foundation accomplishes this mission by improving opportunities for more students to attend college through scholarships and other forms of financial assistance, procuring special equipment, upgrading physical facilities and improving the programs and recognition of the college.
The Foundation鈥檚 TechForce 2016 annual fund drive theme is 鈥淢aking it Happen at South Georgia Technical College.鈥 The goal of the fund drive is to provide scholarships for deserving and financially disadvantaged students on both the Americus and Crisp County Center campuses and textbooks at no cost for students. The fund drive will also provide state of the art equipment for the new Electric Power Generation program as well as for the existing Commercial Truck Driving and Industrial Systems programs.
